Meet Members

IMG_5892This month for our ‘Meet the Members’ page,we would  like to introduce  everyone to The Chapman’s!!

Alfred and Blenda Chapman. from Paducah.

Silos Country Club was pretty lucky in 2006 when The Chapman’s  joined the Club and  became part of the Silos family.

Alfred  is originally  from Graves County but moved to Paducah his junior and senior years and graduated from Paducah Tilghman high school.

Alfred and Blenda Blevins knew each other from  when they were barely out of the diaps,  They pretty much grew up together, with the neighborhood kids as well,  with Alfred’s aunt living across the street from Blenda. As they got older Alfred thought he had a crush on Blenda’s BFF, but after one date that changed and the two of them  stated talking more and then dating and then they wed in 1970.   They just celebrated 47 years of marriage this past August!!

There was a time during their childhood when ornery Alfred was aggravating them stinkin’ neighborhood girls, and twisted Blenda’s arm behind her back on the very porch that ended up being the porch on the first house they bought as Mr. and Mrs.

After graduating from high school Alfred went to work for Midwest Farms and worked there for almost 10 years.  He left Midwest Farms in 1978 and started a career with Frito Lay,  where he retired after 35 years.

Blenda, a Paducah Tilghman graduate herself,  was busy getting her education to become a RN and went to work for Lourdes in Surgery in 1972 – 20 years later she was Director of Surgical Services! She left Lourdes in 1988, but remained managing another Surgical Services until 2014, when she then retired early to care for her mother until her death in 2015.

Alfred fiddled around a little with golf in high school and even enjoyed a round a few hours before saying his “I do’s” BUT,  It wasn’t until he started getting a little provoking , a little harassment of sorts about his game

Alfred "Al" Chapman

Alfred “Al” Chapman

from some co-workers (all in fun) that he began to take it more serious. He found that he really enjoyed the game of golf and played quite often and It wasn’t long before the guys had to find someone else to badger. He was no longer a Duffer. LOL, (have to mess with Alfred a little)  But I would say that Alfred has had the last laugh because he is an awesome and avid golfer and Just this September Alfred made a Hole in One on #8!!

Blenda is not a golfer but she spends many summer days enjoying the pools.

Alfred & Blenda have 2 daughters, Deena Kuntz who is 44, married and a is chemical engineer, & Kellie Rebollo, she is 41 and manages Culvers in Effingham, Il.  They have 3 grandchildren, Noah-18, Abby-15, and Josh-12!!  Other than the love of Golf & I heard love of  Sleep, these Grandchildren are Al’s & Blenda’s world.

These two are pillars of our Silos Community, they are family oriented, hard working, well Alfred was but now he works hard at sleeping, (just what I was told, Al) morally rich people!!  We at Silos may not have the best cart paths yet, or the biggest dining area but I know we have the Best of Members/Family and these two are a prime example of why that is!
